Waconda Lake Fireworks

Well friends we have some disappointing news. A few weeks ago the Bureau of Reclamation notified the Waconda Lake Association that they will not be allowing fireworks at any of their lakes (Waconda, Lovewell, Prairie Dog, etc) This was NOT a weather related decision. So we are quickly trying to search for other options such as landowners near the lake. We understand that Mother Nature may prohibit this event from occurring all together with the lack of rain. However, with recent moisture and the possibility if it continuing we’d like to keep our options open. If you are a landowner near the lake and are interested please contact Heather Johnson at 785-738-8905.

This annual competition featured more than 1000 students, from Kansas high schools, colleges and universities, competing in 64 leadership and technical skill categories.
