john-deboer-corp-thumb

Comedian JOHN DEBOER this year’s Chamber Banquet entertainment!

It has been said, there are only two ways you can go in life after making a mistake. Learn from it and move on or don’t learn from it and stay where you are. John DeBoer has chosen a third route: Write a joke about it and share it with the masses. His nerve-hitting show flows from the devious side of childhood to the never-ending pressures of our times.
Having appeared at comedy clubs, colleges, three federal penitentiaries, the Daytona 500 Experience, as well as on Comedy Central, XM-Sirius Satellite Radio, and in national TV commercials, with a brief (very brief, yet heartwarming) shot on Last Comic Standing, John DeBoer might be the funniest comedian you never heard of.

WANTED:
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) for Abused & Neglected Children

NCK CASA is recruiting volunteers to be advocates for abused and/or neglected children in the court system. In 2014, Mitchell County filed 21 NEW cases of child abuse; due to lack of volunteers only 5 were assigned a CASA volunteer. Mitchell County does not have any volunteers at this time; these five children were assigned CASAs from Jewell and Cloud counties.

CASAs, appointed to a case by the judge, conduct an independent investigation to learn as much as they can about the child, the family, and the circumstances that brought them to the attention of the system. They can make recommendations to the judge about what they feel is in the best interest of the child but most importantly, serve as the voice of the child, making sure the child’s wishes and concerns are heard by the judge. CASA is the only person involved in the case that advocates for the child’s best interests.

A training to become a CASA volunteer is scheduled to begin in Beloit March 2nd. For more information, contact Carol Miller at 243-8200 or nckcasa@cloudcountyks.org.

Chamber Annual Banquet

The Chamber would like to announce JOHN DEBOER as the entertainment for this year’s Chamber Banquet!

john-deboer-corp-thumb

It has been said, there are only two ways you can go in life after making a mistake. Learn from it and move on or don’t learn from it and and stay where you are.

Saturday, February 21st Down Under

7pm Dinner
8pm “Short” Chamber Program
8:30pm Comedian John DeBoer

Exclusively for Chamber members, tickets are on sale and can be purchased for $30 each by calling the Chamber Office at 785-738-2717 or email beloitchamber@nckcn.com.
