St. John’s Harvest Festival

St. John’s Catholic Church is celebrating their 75th Annual Harvest Festival on Saturday, July 25, 2015, on the school grounds, located in the 700 block of East Court Street in Beloit.

Activities will begin following the 5:00 P.M. Mass.

Available activities throughout the evening include the following:
• Burgers & Brats, with baked beans & potato salad • Children’s rides
• Games for all ages • Homemade ice cream, pies and cakes • Homemade goodies
• Garden Produce • Bingo until midnight • Drawings for Grand Prizes at 10:30 p.m.

This year prizes include:

• $2,000 Cash Prize • $1,000 Cash Prize
• $500 Cash Prize • Echo Trimmer
• Echo Handheld Blower • Outdoor LP Gas Fireplace
• Quilt hand quilted by the St John’s quilters

BELOIT TO HOST “NEW TO MEDICARE WORKSHOP”
JULY 29TH

There will be a Medicare Information workshop at the Beloit Senior Center on Wednesday, July 29, beginning at 1:30 PM. Open to all residents in the area, especially those who are new to Medicare, those currently in the Medicare program, and the caregivers for those involved in Medicare. There is no charge for this event, and advanced reservations are not needed. For further information, call the Beloit Senior Center at785-738-5802, or Jay Rowh, Mitchell County Silver Haired Legislator, at 785-738-0241. Sponsored by the Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging, the Mitchell County Council on Aging, and the Beloit Senior Center.

Community Garden Open House

The North Campus Community Garden will sponsor an “Evening in the Garden” from 6:30pm to 8:00pm Wednesday, July 29th. Enjoy lemonade and cookies as you take this opportunity to view the new raised bed provided by Beloit Rotary and Guaranty State Bank, the Herb Garden, the “you Pick Flower Garden” and the 26 private plots. Learn what herbs are available and how they can be used. Community gardeners will be available to discuss their plots and how the community garden works. Jenae Ryan, Post Rock District Horticulture Agent, will be at the garden to answer questions on problems that may be occurring in your home garden.
