Chamber Chat

“Rolling Out the Red Carpet”

What an amazing evening!  The Chamber Annual Banquet took place on Saturday, February 20th.  I would personally like to thank everyone for coming and want to thank the sponsors for the evening once again.

The major sponsors were AGCO/Sunflower, Beloit Auto & Truck Plaza, Mitre Construction and Nex-Tech.

Along with these major sponsors, there were also table sponsors.  They were Cunningham Telephone & Cable, Farmway Coop, Guaranty State Bank, H & R Block, NCK Tech, Nex-Tech Wireless, S & S Drug, Solomon Valley Bank, Solomon Valley Cinema, Sonic, Waconda Trader & World Pest Control.  Thank you to Waconda Trader for the printing of the invitations and programs.  Without all of these sponsors, this event would not have been possible.

Once all the guests had “shopped” for their seat and had a great meal, Rex Havens, comedian, came on stage and wowed the audience with his performance.  He said at the beginning of his performance, everything he knows he learned from his wife!  Of course this was a true statement for a majority of the crowd!

After Rex was done, the evening concluded and everyone gathered the “gifts” from their tables and went ending their wonderful evening.

Thanks again everyone for supporting the Chamber.  I will start planning for next year!

To see pictures from the evening, look at the Beloit Area Chamber of Commerce facebook page.  What a wonderful time!

ReNew Massage Therapy & Day Spa is pleased to introduce Hannah Albrecht and Holle Evert! ReNew now has 20 years of combined experience in massage therapy. Text, call, or message us on Facebook so we can help you feel better!

Hello Beloit and surrounding communities!

I am Holle Evert, a native of Republic, KS and a Belleville High School graduate. I returned to college a few years ago after my 4 daughters were all in school. I earned my massage therapy diploma from the Universal College of Healing Arts in Omaha.

I am trained in Swedish, Sports, Deep Tissue, Prenatal, Reflexology, Thai stretching, and seated chair massage. I’ve worked on all ages, from 5 to 100 years old!

I enjoy taking classes to learn new techniques. Ashiatsu is on my list for 2016. It is a barefoot massage technique using deep pressure from the therapist’s feet.

I am excited about the opportunity to join Connie and Hannah at ReNew and look forward to meeting you!

I am booking evening appointments on Mondays and Tuesdays, Daytime on Wednesdays and Fridays. Book now thru the end of March and get a 90 minute massage for the price of a 60. ($65)  Or a 60 minute for the price of a 30. ($35)

I have gotten some great experience including providing massage therapy to a wide range of clientele and owning a day spa in Clarence, NY, where my husband, 2 year old son and I are from. I especially enjoy giving deep tissue massage as I feel it makes such a huge difference in how you feel and are able to function afterwards! OLDER KANSAN’S DAY SCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 16

Once again, the North Central – Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging is sponsoring the annual Older Kansan’s Day in Topeka at the State Capitol.  This year the event is scheduled for Tuesday, February 16.  The rally gives area Seniors, Caregivers, and anyone else interested in Senior Issues the opportunity to visit with our area Legislators, as well as be a visible presence in the Capitol to show all those involved in State Government that the impact on Kansas Seniors needs to be considered on any legislation up for debate in either the Senate or the House of Representatives.

Anyone in Kansas is welcome to attend, especially if you are interested and concerned about Senior Issues.  The NC-FHAAA will help you schedule an appointment with your area legislator if you so desire, but your presence in the State Capitol alone will have an impact on the Senators, Representatives, and members of the Governor’s staff, sending the message that Seniors and Senior Issues are important to Kansans.  Cost for the event is $10.00, which is used to defray the cost of the catered meal that will take place on the second floor of the State Capitol rotunda.  Those wanting to register can do so by calling NC-FHAAA at 1-800-432-2703.

The state can greatly reduce spending by passing legislation that makes it easier for an elderly person to stay in their own home, at a fraction of the cost it takes for them to receive care in a senior care facility.  While those facilities definitely have their place, statistics show that the longer a person can stay in their own home, with a minimum of proper help and care, the better their quality of life.  They also have better control of their financial well-being, and are thus able to provide more of their own financial support once they do turn to the nursing home as their care needs increase.  This greatly helps the state, as they are not called upon to provide the finances nearly as soon.  It is a win-win for both.

The Solomon Valley Transportation Bus will be used to help take area residents to the Topeka rally.  Call Jay Rowh at 785-738-2310, or email at jayandritarowh@yahoo.com to reserve your seat on the bus.  Plan on spending Tuesday, February 16th in Topeka, and help keep the needs of our Kansas Senior Citizens at the forefront in the minds of those who most directly determine policy for our state.
